相模原市で15000年前の旧石器時代の住居・工房跡発見


According to Asahi News Paper, 7 May, 1997, An old stone tool wookshop site is found at Tana-Shioda in Sagamihara city. It is only 10 minutes drive from my house.Newly found Tana-Shioda histric site was used as stone tool wookshop in late old stone age, some 15,000 years ago. The house site is very large, about 10m in diameter, and it is the oldest site of such large scale found in Japan. Many stone tools made with obsidian and 5-6 obsidian unpolished stones as large as child head were found in the neighbors.

5月7日の朝日新聞によると,相模原市の田名塩田遺跡群から旧石器の住居・工房跡が発見された.家から車で10分くらいのところなので,出かけてみた.この遺跡は約1万5000年前の後期旧石器時代の地層から、柱穴を伴った円形の大型住居跡がみつかったもので,住居跡の直径は10メートルに及び、大規模な住居跡としては日本列島で最古のもの.たくさんの黒曜石でつくられた石器や子供の頭ほどの黒曜石の原石が付近から5、6個出土した.
